The TIP details how disorders typical in an aging person, such as dementia and delirium, can mask or mimic the effects of alcohol and prescription drug abuse. Elderly-specific screening and assessment instruments are included, along with adjustments to the DSM-IV criteria for substance abuse and dependence.
