The revised and expanded Matrix Model is an evidence-based intensive outpatient program (IOP) that is backed by more than twenty years of research, providing adult clients with the structure of an inpatient treatment experience on an outpatient timetable.
This version includes material on medication-assisted treatment and meets DSM-5 classifications. It presents clinical concepts in readily understandable ways. It draws on motivational interviewing to establish a positive, healthy therapist-client relationship. And it provides an explicit framework that lets clients know what is expected.
The Matrix Model covers individual/conjoint therapy, early recovery skills, relapse prevention, family education, social support, and drug screening strategies, with participation in a Twelve Step program encouraged throughout.
