As you may know, cigarette smoking rates among youth are dropping, but cigarette use still occurs. Also, use of products such as e-cigarettes and hookah have actually gone up. In a 2014 study, one in 13 middle school students reported using one or more tobacco products in the last 30 days.
Studies have shown that school-based programs can help reduce the number of kids who use tobacco products. Teach the grades 6–7 materials below to help build a tobacco-free future generation—while reinforcing skills in scientific literacy, health, reading comprehension, writing, and critical thinking.
